I live in Land O Lakes Florida, my next door neighbor is Vietnamese and at 82 still works outside every day where he and his wife grow most of their food. He was a political prisoner for five years and one of the most awesome people I have had the pleasure of knowing. They bring me great Vietnamese food to celebrate certain times of the year , great hard working people.

Great to see the combination between craftmanship and hard traditional methods. I especially hail the use of thin ribs to get the shape, the use of fire to bend the planks and the beauty of the ship.

This is indeed one of the best videos introducing a wooden boat building that I have seen. Thank you so much. Though the laboring was very hard. I am 85 years old, and a retired ship surveyor. I love ships and the shipping industry.

Cutting, welding, sanding… anytime is a good time to wear sandals and smoke. I miss the 70’s. Great video.

Here in the Philippines, FIRST CLASS WOOD is VERY EXPENSIVE, hence, it cannot be considered as "scratch". I am amazed that first class wood in Vietnam is just SCRATCH.

The same is done n or was done on the beach in Manta Ecuador. I lived there for 6+years n saw several wooden boats constructed there. Incredible skills n experience needed to build these wooden ships. N saw a few boats launched.. Bless All always n forever and ever 😊

Amazing boatbuilding ingenuity by these people. All metal studs, brackets, bolts, nuts, washers and nails should be made of stainless steel.

Very nice workmanship. Nice to watch such a large ship being made just as they have done for years and years. Interesting that they have adapted fibre glass and resin to protect the wood planking from the enviornment. Sur prolongs the life of the vessel for many years. Beautiful... Great video.

Always amazing how you give these folks a few tools and the build you a boat. Here in the states we have to have all these specialized tools. Probably a better job then we do.

The work they all did is worth watching. You can see the quality of the work and the consistency of the design. If that were my boat i would be proud to take it up and down the river and enjoy what has been created. Having the wood types to do such a wonderful build is very impressive. All of the men know exactly what to do and never miss a beat and doing it well. I am very impressed.

This construction looks very solid and durable made from good quality wood Additionally the main shell is covered glass mat and resin Can you imagine just mat and glass resin and resin jelly is enough structure of shells in some modern boats Like the Fairline yachts made in U.K.

Đây là nghề đóng thuyền vận tải đánh bắt cá biển xa bờ của người dân Việt Nam.. Nghề đóng thuyền thủ công này đã có ở Việt Nam từ rất lâu rồi, Việt Nam là đất nước có đường biển dài và từ thời xưa các ngư dân đã tự đóng cho mình những con thuyền gỗ như này để ra khơi đánh bắt cá..! Thuyền được làm bằng gỗ rất bền, nó có độ bền lên đến 50 năm và giá thành làm ra nó thì rẻ hơn thuyền thép rất nhiều..! Ở Việt Nam và các nước đông nam á có nhiều nước cũng sử dụng thuyền gỗ để đánh bắt cá ngoài biển, ngoài Việt Nam ra còn có Philippine, Indonesia và Thailand cũng có những nơi đóng thuyền gỗ thủ công như này..! Việt Nam những năm gần đây ngành đóng tàu thuyền đi biển đang phát triển rất mạnh mẽ..!
